For the last several years, I’ve purchased The Reading Woman Calendar for my friend who I read books with and for myself. Every month we turn the calendar and admire the painting that has been selected. It’s been such a joy to get to know these paintings! I love the ones you’ve selected, Leah!
It's been so much fun, especially sharing the experience with a friend. We like to keep each month a surprise so when we turn the page to the following month, we never know what to expect. It's been a delight! I love that you can relate to my enthusiasm about this! :D
Leah, if you don't have it already you have to get your hands on a book called 'Reading Art: Art for Book Lovers' by David Trigg - features pictures of works by over 250 artists all featuring books and reading! You would love it 😊
I like "Young Girl Reading" by John-Honore Fragonard. Thanks for posting these. I love seeing beautiful paintings on Substacks and blogs! It feeds my soul.
Hard to pick a favorite, but Vermeer always has me looking longer at his paintings! So realistic with so much detail, it is really remarkable! Thanks for sharing this selection Leah, I will share with my daughter what I observed:)

Thank you for the calendar recommendation! I can't wait to get one for the coming year.
