Your Face Looks Familiar, Have We Met Before?
Come On In - I Even Have A Welcome Basket For You! 🎁
Greetings from a grey Saturday in England!
I’m so excited to welcome some new faces who’ve joined us from the Wonder Challenge hosted by Amy Sloan. We’re delighted to have you, and we already like you! Everyone in this community is friendly and welcoming, and I truly hope you’ll feel right at home here.
In this email, I’m going to share a little about myself, give you a glimpse into what we do over here, and, of course, I’ve got a whole host of goodies for you. It’s probably longer than I’d usually send, but it’s a special Saturday edition just for our new friends! Scroll down if you want to get straight to the welcome basket! 😉
The bit about me!
My name is Leah Boden, and I’m a mum of 22 years to four adult and teenage children—all of whom were home-educated using the ideas of Charlotte Mason. They’ve now moved on to careers and/or further education (though three are still at home 😊). I’m also the author of Modern Miss Mason and, more recently, The Tales of Boldness and Faith series. The first two books, Angel Orphan (about Charlotte Mason) and Chronicles of Wonder (about C.S. Lewis), are out now, with the third book coming this August. These books are fictionalised biographies for middle-grade children, perfect for reading aloud to your gathering around the table or in the classroom. I’m excited to keep sharing these stories with you and hope there will be many more to come!
I’ve been married to
for almost 25 years. He’s the director of a transformative schools work charity supporting young people’s lives through holistic education and is also the author of a handful of books, including two for teenagers to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus—check them out here. His new book, What You Were Made For, comes out in March, and I’m excited for you to see it!Dave and I strive to live first as faithful followers of Jesus and secondly to empower and encourage the next generation. This has become the guiding principle for our yeses and nos.
What we do over here!
There are two pathways here on The Collective. The first is the free email and open Substack site, where you’ll get a monthly email with news, updates, occasional creative writing pieces from yours truly, and I can’t resist sending out free workshops every so often.
Secondly, you can join The Collective Community, which is my subscription membership where we read, learn, and grow together. I host workshops, guest interviews, a book club, a digital co-working space, an educational philosophy discussion group, art appreciation, and much, much more, as well as getting to know and hang out with amazing women who are fast becoming my friends.
You can watch this video here that will help you understand what The Collective is and how to navigate our community.
Hopefully, some of them will wade in, in the comments, and tell you why you should join (that’s your nudge, lovely members! 😉).
And now for your welcome basket!
Chapter 1 of both The Angel Orphan and Chronicles of Wonder - enjoy!
2. “Education is a Life” Workshop
Keynote Session from Leif Beirsweden, Author of Where the Wild Flowers Grow, from The Collective Online Conference last year.
And finally, why don’t you join us to celebrate the launch of The Tales of Boldness and Faith series on Saturday 1st March? If you’re in the UK, you can join us in person here in the West Midlands—there are only a few in-person tickets left, but I’ll start a waiting list! The tickets are free. For everyone else around the world, you can join us digitally for a great evening! Grab your ticket here.
Thank you for letting me have a few moments of your Saturday—I hope we’ll share many more over here in The Collective Community.
Have a great weekend,
Leah x
Just saw this! Thanks for the first chapters! Miss you! 💗
The Collective is my favorite place to gather with like-minded moms who are thinking, growing, and reading. It is a kind place full of great discussions and encouragement. 💙
